Spring Framework

The Spring Framework dashboard shows how many services in the fleet run with Open Session in View enabled.

LegacyOnly needed before release: 1.2.0.

The Spring Framework dashboard is removed in Axelix 1.2.0.

Open Session in View (OSIV) keeps the Hibernate session and the database connection open until the whole HTTP response is rendered. Lazy associations then load silently outside the transaction, and each request holds a connection longer than it needs. Spring Boot enables OSIV by default in web applications with JPA, so it often stays on by accident. The Spring Framework dashboard shows how widespread it is across the fleet.

The page is read-only and available to every authenticated user: VIEWER, EDITOR, ADMIN, and SUPER_ADMIN can all open it. See Roles and authorities for the full role/authority matrix.

What the page shows

The page shows the share of services that run with OSIV enabled, and the share that run with it disabled.

How it works

OSIV counts as enabled when the application registers the Open Session in View interceptor or filter. Master records this once a day and uses the latest record. A service counts once however many instances it runs.
